Keija Mills-Ible, a first year BSc Computing undergraduate, based in St Kitts in the Caribbean, pipped 21 other nominees to be voted president by her peers.

In addition to representing the Arden student body - internally and externally - Keija will lead a dedicated team of elected student representatives and manage their activity on the ‘UNITU’ online forum.

In her capacity as AUSA President, an entirely voluntary position, Keija will be pivotal to promoting Arden University Student Association (AUSA) membership and growing the organisation’s range of activities. Keija will also liaise with the Academic Board, as an ex officio member, to ensure student perspectives and needs are reflected in the academic management of the University.

Keija aims to work closely with the culturally and geographically diverse student body – seeking opinion, ideas, and feedback to help advance the University and enrich the experience of all who study with Arden.

Speaking about her election victory, Keija said: “Arden University welcomes students from many countries around the world; students of all ages, from different professions, backgrounds, and cultures.
“My overall aim is to make sure that everyone’s views and ideas are listened to so that, as a student body, we are all motivated to tackle our courses, are able to develop strong connections with each other and our tutors, and can truly build on the ethos of ‘doing things differently’.
“I sincerely thank everyone who voted for me and look forward to the challenge of my new role. Arden University is a great place to study, and I look forward to working with both staff and students to make it even better!”

Keija will serve as the AUSA president until December 2017 by which point students will have elected a successor for the following year.
