The National Student Survey (NSS) is a UK-wide, independent survey, which gathers students’ opinions on the quality of their courses.

First things first – what is the NSS survey?

The National Student Survey (NSS) is a UK-wide, independent survey, which gathers students’ opinions on the quality of their courses. This helps inform the choices of prospective students and provides information that we can use to improve the student experience.

The survey is run by IPSOS Mori on behalf of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

This is the first year we have taken part, since becoming Arden University we are now an eligible UK Higher Education institution.

What does it mean for me?

If you’re a UK student in or beyond your 4th year of studying in 2017, you will receive a link from Ipsos Mori on the 9th January inviting you to take part in a survey. You will join thousands of other UK students who get the chance to share their experiences on their University.

What will I be asked?

There are 27 questions over the followin core sections: Teaching, Learning Opportunities, Assessment & Feedback, Academic Support, Organisation & Management, Learning Resources, Learning Community, and Student Voice

These are followed by the summary question "Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the course", an opportunity for free text comments.

Why take part?

You will only be invited to take part in this survey ONCE. That’s right, this is your only chance to take part in a published independent survey on University education! It’s a chance to give anonymous feedback on your experiences and to contribute to published student views on Arden University which will inform potential future applicants.

The more of our students that take part, the more robust and reliable the results will be. If we don't get over a 50% response rate, our results will not be published. So help us out and see Arden make its mark on the University sector!

Win prizes!

All Arden respondents wishing to participate are placed into a draw – there will be 11 winners selected at random by the independent survey company. One will win £500 in Amazon vouchers, and an Arden University Hoodie is on offer to the other 10 lucky winners.

What happens to the results?

The results are made public through the Unistats website. This means that Arden University will be ranked amongst all other UK universities for the first time ever - our first year with University title. As our student we hope you will be proud to see our teaching and student satisfaction ranked UK wide.

How long does it take?

It only takes 5-10 minutes.
