The qualification allows students who have completed a BTEC, HND or Foundation Degree to top up their previous qualification to a full undergraduate degree.

Upgrade your qualification with a Top Up Degree

NEW Top Up Degrees that allow students to top up their previous study and achieve full undergraduate honours have been launched by distance learning specialist Arden University.

The undergraduate degrees in business, business finance, business human resource management, business marketing and business tourism are open to students who have completed a BTEC, HND or Foundation Degree.

Kara Johnson, Director of Undergraduate Programmes, said:

"These Top Up Degrees are an excellent way to use an existing qualification towards a full honours degree, rather than starting from scratch, after a BTEC, HND or Foundation Degree.

It’s a great way to show employers that you are a lifelong learner who has dedication, initiative as well as academic and organisational skills. Our business Top Ups are focused around employability and teach business skills that will be useful in any workplace."

Available Top up routes

The BA (Hons) Business course is the pure business route, aimed at those who want to develop their management skills as well as get to grips with running an organisation.

Students on the BA (Hons) Business (Finance) course learn about accounting and basic economics, recognising that good financial management is key to any business achieving its strategic objectives.

The BA (Hons) Business (Human Resource Management) top-up course teaches the key aspects of current practice in the field of HRM alongside current and emerging developments in related disciplines.

The BA (Hons) Business Marketing course focuses on skills and knowledge specific to marketing planning and strategy, and marketing communications, which can be applied across the world and in any industry.

Finally, the BA (Hons) Business (Tourism) top-up teaches the issues facing modern tourism, understanding the nature of domestic versus international travel and by completing this degree, students will leave with the skills needed to work in the tourism industry.

The aim of a Top Up Degree is to further develop knowledge and understanding of an academic subject by building on an existing qualification, rather than starting a full honours degree from scratch. Following the completion of a Top Up degree, students can go on to study a Master’s level degree if they choose to.
