Do you want to learn about the basics of business and management, but you’re not sure if you qualify for university study?

Arden’s BA (Hons) Business is available to study with an Integrated Foundation Year. Studied over four years, this programme is perfect to prepare you for success at Undergraduate level.

The foundation year will equip you with the essential skills needed to embark on your Undergraduate Degree in Business, including basic numeracy, academic and research skills.

You'll study your Degree with foundation year at Arden University via our Blended Learning programme, which combines flexible online study with 2 days of lectures a week at one of our study centres in Manchester, Birmingham or London.

When can I study?

Requiring just 8 hours of classes a week at your chosen UK study centre, courses are scheduled as follows: 

  • Weekdays*: 2 days per week, 4 hours per day (either 9.00–13.00 or 13.30-17.30)
  • Evenings**: 2 evenings per week 17.30–21.30
  • Weekends**: Saturdays

In addition to the 8 hours of face-to-face teaching each week, you will have an additional 12 hours online tuition.

This is perfect if you want more guided learning but need the flexibility to study around work, family or other commitments.

Our Business Degree with Integrated Foundation Year is perfect for those with a desire to return to education or seeking to develop key study skills in their first year.

To be eligible for this course you must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Level 2 qualifications (GCSE's or equivalent), studied within the last three years; OR:
  • At least 1 year's full-time work experience

Candidates who do not have GCSE English at grade C or 5 will be required to undertake a literacy assessment for entry. Students must still have an English qualification to support previous study in English – the Arden English Assessment does not exempt you from this.

Arden candidates are also required to submit a personal statement (of between 350-550 words) or interview demonstrating an ability to study the programme, taking into account:

  • Their motivation for undertaking the programme
  • Relevant work experience
  • Prior qualifications
  • References

If your previous learning was not in English, you will also need to have IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (no less than 5.5 in any element).

Funding

You can support your study in a variety of ways.

If you are a UK student, the most common funding of undergraduate degrees is a Tuition Fee Loan from the UK Government. The key information about these loans is:

  • You must be a UK resident
  • You can get a loan to cover the full cost of your tuition fees
  • You only start to pay it back when you are earning over £21,000 a year.
  • Your tuition fees are paid directly to the University by the loan company.

Self-funding - Pay in full or Pay as you go options

You can pay for your course all in one go if you have the funds. There is typically up to 10% off the total price if you pay this way. You can also pay as you go. This means you have no monthly obligations and simply pay for each module when you decide to study it.

This BA (Hons) Business Degree with Foundation Year at Arden will take you four years to complete. Once you’ve successfully completed the programme, you’ll graduate with an Undergraduate Degree with Chartered Management Institute(CMI) accreditation.
