Career impact

What can a healthcare management degree do for me?

As well as obtaining a wide range of transferrable skills, this degree will prepare you to pursue a management level position within the healthcare sector.

Health and social care is a vast service sector with new government initiatives giving it a higher profile than ever before. These developments mean there is likely to be a demand for well-trained, multi-skilled people.

More than 60% of health studies graduates are in full-time employment six months after graduating, with a further 25% undertaking study or combining work and study, as reported by Prospects.

What can I do after uni?

People who graduate with this degree typically go on to succeed in roles such as:

  • Care Manager
  • Health Service Manager
  • Charity Officer
  • Health Promotion Specialist

What do our alumni say?

Edith was a support worker in an advanced dementia home when she decided to study a healthcare management degree.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the way I have been challenged by the tutors, the ever-helpful back offices, and the interaction with fellow students. Here I am now, earning £10,000 a year more than I was three months ago and I’m now a Regional Trainer.”

The four year degree is perfect for you if:

  • It’s been a while since you studied
  • You don’t feel you did well in previous academic study
  • You want to improve your time management skills
  • You’re not confident in writing assignments and would like some support
  • You want to learn research skill that can support your studies and assignments
  • You want some extra knowledge of the degree subject before beginning the course.

This foundation year is part of the full degree. If you are funding your degree by Tuition Fee Loan from the UK Government, your tuition fee for the foundation year will also be covered in this loan.
