BPS accredited

Arden University's Psychology Degree is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

This means that successful graduates obtaining at least a lower second class Honours Degree (2:2) will be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the BPS - the basic requirement to train as a professional psychologist.

Whilst you are actively studying with Arden, we will cover the cost of your student membership with the BPS. This provides you with access to a wide range of additional resources to assist with your studies.

Our psychology degree with foundation year provides you with the skills you need to succeed at the undergraduate level, laying the perfect groundwork for your psychology studies.

After completing this foundation year, you’ll start the second year of your online psychology degree at Arden University with a thorough introduction to all of the core topics. You will then go on to focus on understanding research methods and developing statistical skills, which will teach you how to carry out your own research.

You’ll get the chance to engage with some contemporary debates through the key studies module, enabling you to develop a great range of skills alongside general knowledge of psychology. Your skills will be further developed in your final year as you study modules on both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

We know our students lead busy lives and so with our Distance Learning model, you’ll have 24/7 access to our online learning portal, iLearn. This means you can schedule your studies around your life.

To support your learning, this online learning environment includes a ‘My Study Skills’ area which offers insightful information about the key skills that are needed for university level study, covering topics such as academic writing, how to effectively take notes, practical thinking and more.

You will have 4-12 years to complete this course, meaning that you can take up to 3 years to complete each level; however, many of our students complete the course in 4-8 years.

Candidates for our BSc Psychology with Foundation Year course are required to submit a personal statement (of between 350-550 words) or attend an online interview, demonstrating the ability to study a degree level programme at Arden University. We will take into account:

  • Your motivation for undertaking the programme
  • Relevant work experience
  • Prior qualifications
  • References

You also need a GCSE Maths Grade C or equivalent.

For students whose prior learning was not taught in English

  • IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element); or TOEFL iBT 80; or equivalent
  • Alternatively, a letter to show that the Medium of Instruction was in English is accepted
  • We also offer an internal English test for applicants who are unable to provide an English Proficiency letter. More information on this can be found here

If you are a UK student, the most common funding of undergraduate degrees is a Tuition Fee Loan from the UK Government. The key information about these loans is:

  • You must be a UK resident
  • You can get a loan to cover the full cost of your tuition fees
  • You only start to pay it back when you are earning over £25,725 a year.
  • Your tuition fees are paid directly to the University by the loan company.
