Foundation year degrees

Arden offers three degrees with foundation year entry - Business, Healthcare and Computing. Once you've completed your foundation year you will progress on to the full degree. Download a course snapshot for more information on the full degrees.

BA (Hons) Business

During your foundation year, you will complete six key modules that will prepare you with the required skills and knowledge to take on the full undergraduate degree in business.

To prepare you with the required skills and knowledge to take on the full BA (Hons) Healthcare Management, you will complete six key modules that will equip you with the right tools to get you on your way to become a professional practitioner, manager or leader in healthcare.

BSc (Hons) Computing

If you're hoping to study a degree in computing, but want to build on your knowledge and skills first, this foundation year entry course could be for you. You will complete key modules that will leave you with the confidence to take on an undergraduate degree in computing.

How does it work?

With Arden, you'll study your foundation year entry degree through Blended Learning. This means you will only need to attend sessions at your study centre three days a week. Any other study will be done online using our interactive platform, ilearn.

  • Once you've completed the foundation year you'll progress on to your full three year degree
  • If you are funding your degree with a student loan, your foundation year will also be covered in this loan
  • During your three days a week at the study centre, you will be encouraged to debate, discuss and ask questions to develop your understanding and acquire key skills
  • Because it combines online learning you can access materials and resources online 24/7
  • The online content includes tutorials, lessons, exercises, study support and chat forums
  • You will have full control over how you spend your time when you're away from the study centres
  • You can contact tutors for help via email, even on days you don't spend in class
Entry Requirements

At Arden, we believe that everyone should have a chance to get the education they deserve.

If you think that university is for you, but are worried that you don't have the qualifications needed to enrol on a degree programme, a foundation year could be just the thing for you.

If you'd like to apply for a foundation year start, all you have to do is submit a short personal statement about why you think the foundation year entry is for you. This only needs to be 350 - 500 words, and cover the following:

  • Your motivation for studying
  • Any relevant work experience
  • Any prior qualifications you have
  • References

You may also be invited to attend an informal interview to talk over your application and find out if you have any questions. Your interview may be held in person or over skype.

Fees & Funding

The prices for our foundation year entry degrees are as follows:

Fee per year: £6,165

4 year degree total fee: £24,660

Our study centres can be found in fantastic locations, with easy access to everything you could need, from shops and restaurants, to open spaces.

They're easy to reach too; there are many bus routes and national rail services serving each of our study centre locations, and tube stations within a short walk of our London locations.

And the facilities available at study centres?

Giving you access to the technology and services you need to support your studies, the modern centres are buzzing with students, tutors and staff.

Outside of your classes, you can expect access to things like:

  • Printing facilities
  • Individual and group study space
  • Restaurants
  • Leisure facilities

If you’re not 100% comfortable with university level study choosing 4 year degree would be a smart choice. The first year is designed to give you the basics needed to successfully complete the rest of the degree as it focuses on essential study skills. You will build your confidence and become a capable, well equipped student who is able to complete the full degree.

The four year degree is perfect for you if:

  • It’s been a while since you studied
  • You don’t feel you did well in previous academic study
  • You want to improve your time management skills
  • You’re not confident in writing assignments and would like some support
  • You want to learn research skill that can support your studies and assignments
  • You want some extra knowledge of the degree subject before beginning the course.

This foundation year is part of the full degree. If you are funding your degree by Tuition Fee Loan from the UK Government, your tuition fee for the foundation year will also be covered in this loan.
