Arden lecturer wins three awards

Nav winning an award

Arden University’s Nav Ahmed has won a series of prestigious awards, reflecting his commitment to Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion whilst working in higher education.

Nav, who currently serves as the principal lecturer for Arden’s Institute of Foundation Studies, received three awards at the inaugural This is Us Conference – Diversity Impact Business Awards.

Nav’s first, The Changemaker award, was presented for “A project/initiative an organisation/individual has undertaken to become a more inclusive organisation and doing something different within their industry that makes them stand out from their competitors.” This reflected Nav’s work to analyse data to develop ‘Faculty Packs’ for the other schools, examining the demographics of each programme. As the AUA Equality and Diversity Network Coordinator, Nav also presented at the AUA Autumn Conference in November with his workshop “How to use data effectively to enhance the student and staff experience.”

Nav’s second award, the Organisational Champion award, recognises “A commitment to D, E & I which has resulted in improvements across all levels of their organisation or business community.” As a Speaker for the BAMEed Network, a member of the Race Equality Matters network, and a mentor for various organisations such as Future Faces (Great Birmingham Chambers of Commerce) and the Brightside Trust, Nav has been involved in various external engagements.

Finally, Nav also received the “This is Us Overall Champion award” for the single entry (of all nominations) which received the highest score from the judging panel – securing 9.25/10.

Nav is also a finalist in the ‘Diversity and Inclusion Leader’ category at the West Midlands Leadership Awards 2023 (taking place on 9 March)

A massive congratulations to him.
