Aayush

One of a number of success stories from Arden University Berlin is Aayush, who is not only enjoying his higher education journey, but has also found a new job in Germany.

Aayush, who left India to pursue his education, is currently striving towards obtaining a Master's in Engineering Management, as well as working as a supply chain and logistics analyst.

Read more below to find out what he has enjoyed about his experience studying with Arden, his time in Berlin, and his plans for the future.

Hi Aayush, you're studying Engineering Management with us, what areas have you covered in your studies and what have you enjoyed the most?

The master’s in Engineering Management has six modules, which are Management of Traditional Engineering Projects, Introduction to supply chain management, Developing people, leadership and capabilities, Analysing big-data, and Agile methodologies in the digital business environment, Competitive strategy within engineering management

As for my favourite courses, I would say Introduction to Supply Chain Management and Big Data Analysis. Due to my previous Master's degree in Engineering Systems, I was more focused on data, and now I am interested in optimising supply chain management using data analytics. These two courses have been invaluable to my career aspirations.

What was it that made you want to study with Arden?

Arden University offers a range of benefits. I have had an outstanding experience with the university due to its unwavering support from the very beginning. Starting with the admissions process and continuing through blended learning opportunities, flexible tuition fees, and scholarship possibilities. In addition to the knowledge and skills I have gained from Arden University, I am grateful for the support and assistance I have received.

This course has also enhanced my critical thinking skills. It is truly an honor for me to have a job in my field of study before graduation despite economic and current employment crises.

How long have you been in Berlin for?

While I arrived in Germany in March 2023, I began my course in November 2022, so I took the first module online until I received my visa, after which I moved to Berlin.

At present, I reside in a city called Donauworth, which is located in the Bavaria district of Germany, since the company where I work is based there. Moreover, I am writing my dissertation while simultaneously working as a supply chain and logistics analyst at a metal processing company.

What's your experience in Germany been like?

When I was studying for my first Master's degree in the Netherlands, I visited Germany multiple times, therefore it was not unknown to me. I admire Germans and their work culture, particularly their commitment to physical fitness. These are some of the reasons why I decided to move to Germany.

What was it like when you first came here?

I was fortunate to be able to stay with my brother, who proved to be a great source of assistance to me. He assisted me with all the necessary paperwork such as registering with the city registration office, setting up a German bank account, and settling into a new place.

What have your tutors been like to work with?

There is a friendly and supportive atmosphere among all members of the teaching and administrative staff. In spite of the fact that you do not speak German, they will cooperate with you and provide feedback at their earliest convenience.

If you had to sum up your Arden experience in three words, what would they be?

“Arden is OUTSTANDING”. Specifically tailored to each individual's needs, the program is extremely comprehensive. The academic staff is highly knowledgeable and supportive, and the community is unparalleled. I have had a positive experience with Arden and recommend it to all of my colleagues, juniors, and friends.

You mentioned your new full-time job, what are you doing for it?

Currently, I am employed by Lech-Stahl Veredelung (LSV) GmbH, a metal processing company located in the Bavarian district of Germany and I am working as a Supply chain and Logistics Analyst. There is no doubt that I will utilize my current academic knowledge and experience. Furthermore, I will learn and grow toward achieving the company's mission and vision.

Aside from studying and working, what are your hobbies?

I am physically active and enjoy riding a bicycle and playing badminton. I also enjoy watching Netflix on the weekends. Additionally, I enjoy playing Octapad and making music. Last but not least, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

So you've got your brother over here in Germany, as well as family back home. What do they think of you guys being over here in Berlin? Are they proud?

Certainly, they are very proud of me as I grow up and become more self-sufficient and confident. I have been away from my family since I was 16 years old due to my higher education, and my father always advised me "Just do whatever you wish to do and achieve your dreams".

They seem to be pleased with me so far, and I am grateful for their support and advice. I am grateful for their presence in my life.

What are you hoping comes next once you've got the degree?

In the short term, my goals are to learn the German language, obtain a driver's license, and settle in Germany. In the medium to long term, my goal is to gain in-depth experience in the supply chain and logistics processes of an organization and to be appointed to a top-level position in a top German automotive manufacturer.

So you've got an undergraduate and you've got another Master's as well, how does this master's from Arden compare to your other experience with education?

The first word that comes to mind is “flexibility”. It is typically not possible to do anything else apart from the course at other institutions. However, here I am working and completing my master's degree simultaneously.

Secondly, I would like to point out that at Arden, when we work on assignments, our focus is on developing and implementing methods, techniques, and technical skills that are more valuable in the real world than academic theories.

What was your favourite thing about Berlin as a city?

I would say Berlin is a city of diverse people with different cultural backgrounds, languages, and religions. It is a city that encourages tolerance and celebrates diversity. Berlin is also a city rich in history and offers many opportunities for exploration. I am glad that I have been able to make some good friends in my program, so I can explore, relax, and experience nightlife at popular clubs.
