An innovative approach to health care and management is the only answer to the extensive changes the sector has experienced as a result of the pandemic. To reflect the ever-growing need for managers to focus on mental health and well-being, the programme highlights broader, societally relevant themes, such as emotional resilience and compassionate leadership. This will allow those on the course to develop into a competent manager ready to successfully take on these important matters in the workplace.

So, if you’re looking for a health and social care-oriented degree, on-the-job experience and a development pathway to chartered status, look no further than the Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, BSc (Hons) Health and Care Management (CMI).

Cemene Wellington

I chose to study with Arden University because the staff members were really supportive and nice. The course also fitted around my job. With Arden, I’ve finally learned to cope and understand my learning pattern, and my dyslexia. I’m on a Blended Learning degree, which involves a couple of days a week in the classroom with other students and tutors at Arden’s University centre in Ealing, West London plus fully supported online study.

Assessments

Your study within the Chartered Manager programme will include work-based assessments. Through career relevant written assignments, decision simulations and case studies and a workplace project, you will have the unique opportunity to apply the skills you have learned from the programme directly to your practice, giving you transferable skills for your current and future career.

The Mary Seacole Award

Your Chartered Manager programme includes the NHS England Mary Seacole Award, a respected leadership development qualification recognised across the NHS, social care, private organisations, and local authorities.

Achieving the Mary Seacole Award alongside your degree will enhance your CV and career prospects. This well-regarded qualification will help you stand out in future opportunities, in addition to the BSc (Hons) degree and the transferable management skills from the CMI accreditation. Completing the Mary Seacole Award as part of your studies is a great opportunity, as places are limited and independent completion is often costly.

What you’ll do:

Over six months, you’ll complete 12 units that are directly linked to your degree programme modules. These units are small, manageable learning opportunities that allow you to apply your university knowledge to real-world situations in your workplace. This means the extra work is aligned with your degree content and is focused on applying what you’re already learning, rather than adding entirely new independent study.

You’ll also attend three compulsory full-day workshops, led by experienced facilitators, and contribute to the Mary Seacole platform through meaningful posts, along with a written assignment.

Study options

You will access your modules through our virtual classroom, ilearn and complete all the module lessons. Throughout each study block you will attend your scheduled teaching and learning sessions during working hours, attend your 1-2-1 coaching sessions and undertake your workplace assignment and coach led activities. Your coach will guide you to ensure you are effectively applying and evidencing your new knowledge, whilst developing and demonstrating the skills and behaviours considered essential for success in your role.

Adrian Williams

"I was already in the working world and running two businesses. Not to mention I also have a young family, so the freedom online learning offered, and the cost effectiveness of the course, was a big draw for me."
