What can I expect from my Graduation Day?

The ceremony consists of speeches from Senior Staff Members and a student representative.

A key part of the ceremony as a graduate is walking across the stage in your academic dress and shaking hands with the Presiding Officer. The Presenting Head will announce your name and course.

Each ceremony lasts about 1 hour. It will be followed by a celebratory drink’s reception lasting around one hour.  Gowns will need to be returned promptly after the drinks reception to allow us to prepare for the next ceremony.

When will I graduate?

About the venue

From 1961 to 1964, the "Haus des Lehrers" (House of the Teacher) is built at Alexanderplatz with a separate domed building for events. This part of the building referred to as the congress hall in the 80s and 90s (now known as the "bcc") captivates with its clear, transparent forms and many interesting architectural details. The gleaming aluminium dome is visible even from afar. There is an unobstructed view of Berlin's cityscape from the foyers. Together with the neighbouring Haus des Lehrers, today's bcc forms an impressive ensemble at Alexanderplatz.
