Accommodation and how to secure a safe home

Arden University does not have dedicated Arden-only halls of residence. However, there are a number of trusted routes available to help you find a wide range of student accommodation in Stratford and Manchester. This gives you flexibility to choose a place that best suits your preferences, lifestyle, and budget.

We recommend starting your accommodation search as soon as you have been accepted onto your course. When choosing where to live, it’s helpful to consider travel time to campus rather than distance alone, and to aim for a journey time that you feel comfortable with.

To reduce the risk of scams, use official student accommodation services and platforms. Creating accounts and setting up alerts can help you respond quickly, as student properties are often filled fast.

Important things to check

  • Always ask for a written contract before agreeing to rent
  • Never pay deposits using money transfer services such as Western Union
  • Check what is included in your rent, such as utilities, Wi-Fi, furnishings, and council tax
  • Students do not pay council tax, but landlords must apply for a student exemption

If you are unable to attend an in-person viewing, ask for a video tour or online viewing before committing to a property.
