The new academic year is underway, and as we enter the final two weeks of September we’re going to be placing a spotlight on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion across our university.
Across our website and social channels, our spotlight feature will give us chance to meet some of the students who embody Arden’s values and are using their education to break down barriers and work towards their dream career.
A mini-series of online Spotlight events, taking place from Monday 26th September, will take centre-stage towards the end of the month – offering interactive opportunities to learn from some of Arden’s experts in this field, including our four deans of faculty who will reflect on their own experiences in higher education.
This programme is free for all and includes:
Monday 26th September, 11.30 Using Inclusive Language
Emma Owen and Lucy Anacleto explore the importance of using inclusive language when engaging with others, alongside practical tips on using it in work and education settings.
Thursday 29th September, 10am Neurodiversity in the Workplace
A look at neurodiversity in the workplace, examining what adjustments can be made in work settings for ADHD and neurodiversity more generally.
Thursday 29th September, 12.30pm Q&A with our Deans: Opening up access to Higher Education
Join our Deans as they consider how close we are to accomplishing truly inclusive environments in higher education and the workplace.
Another highlight will be the release of a special edition of the Arden University podcast, where we’ll be speaking to Psychology lecturer Emma Owen about her experience of living with neurodiversity without the correct diagnosis, and how she uses these experiences to help her students. Don’t forget to subscribe via your favourite podcast app to be notified when the latest episode drops.
