Arden University signs Armed Forces Covenant to support military community

05 November 2026

As we approach Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, Arden University is proud to announce that we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging our support for serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated fairly and with respect. By signing the Covenant, we are recognising the contribution made by the military community and committing to helping improve the opportunities available to them.

We understand that military life can bring unique demands, including changing locations, work commitments and responsibilities that can make traditional routes into higher education challenging. Our online learning degree programmes offer the flexibility to study alongside these commitments, helping serving personnel and veterans take the next step in their education and careers.

We're also developing new programmes designed to support people interested in careers across security and defence. These include an MSc in Counter Terrorism Strategy and a BSc in Intelligence, Security and Defence.

The undergraduate programme will also offer a top-up route, allowing eligible serving personnel to build on their existing experience and qualifications, with the opportunity to progress directly to Level 6.

Arden plans to join the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) platform, making its programmes more visible to members of the military community and helping more people explore their options for further study.

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is an important step in strengthening Arden's support for the military community. We're also exploring further ways to support military families and young people affected by bereavement through organisations such as Scotty's, the military bereavement charity.

As we mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, we recognise the service and sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces, past and present, and their families.
