On 9th July, Dilshad Sheikh, Arden University’s Dean of the Faculty of Business, appeared on BBC Radio 4 as part of a panel of guests for the final programme in a series of Rethink episodes; dedicated to a range of talking points surrounding the future of education.
Hosted by Amol Rajan of the Today programme, Dilshad appeared alongside guests including: the author Alex Beard, Matt Hood, Founder of Oak National Academy and Dr. Elizabeth Gemmill, Department for Continuing Education, Oxford University, to discuss the role of technology in education.
During the pandemic many schools and universities relied on virtual lessons using video software. Looking to the future, the episode poses questions about the role of technology in education. It also examines the viability of students continuing to be taught virtually and the continued role of online resources as a means of enhancing the classroom experience.
Dilshad was appointed to the role of Dean of the Faculty of Business in 2020. The appointment marked the university’s first Dean. Before joining Arden, Dilshad has enjoyed an impressive 20 years of experience as an academic in the Higher Education sector.
