What does Studying Psychology Require?

Are you looking to study a Psychology degree? This event will give you an opportunity to find out more about the degrees Arden offers and also speak to one of our fantastic academics. Many of our academics are research active and have published in academic journals, presented at national and international conferences, and authored book chapters on applied psychology.

We also have former and continuing practitioners within the team whose expertise centres on the application of psychology in real-life contexts, such as organisational, educational, prison, health care, and clinical settings. Arden University Virtual Open Day: Meet our Staff

You are invited to attend Arden’s last virtual open day of 2024! Arden runs virtual open days throughout the year to allow you to ask questions about the application process and to find out how you could progress in your career journey after studying with us. It is a great way to find out more about the university, no matter where you live, what you do or where you are in your application journey. If you can’t attend live, you can still register and receive the recording! This open day will consist of three short talks from our key departments, followed by an opportunity for questions and answers:

  • Introduction to Arden, how to apply and what to expect after application?  
  • Information for international students: fees, funding, entry requirements
  • What general support is there for students? What opportunities are there after university? What if English is not your first language or you are returning to education after a break?
  • Q&A session

Serious Knife Crime: Do Violence Reduction Units Reduce Youth Violence?

Part 1/3 of our lunchtime taster lectures, the School of Criminology will talk us through knife crime, the impact it has on communities and how we can deter it. The Violence Reduction Units are a government initiative in the UK which bring together different organisations to tackle violent crime by understanding its root causes. This lecture will give you an insight into how higher education can help develop your analytical and practical skills to lead in the sector.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Prisons Across the Globe

Part 2/3 of our lunchtime taster lectures, a School of Criminology lecturer will be giving you the fantastic opportunity to hear about prisons from a global perspective. Arden’s MA course primarily focuses on the current research-informed practices at use in England and Wales, helping you to critically analyse, investigate, and manage serious and violent crime. However, it also explores criminal activity from an international context, such as the global impact and effects of terrorism and cybercrime because we know how connected everything is in today’s society.
