Becoming a student of Arden University, while at the time seemed a great challenge, has in fact been the best choice I made for my own personal development. Studying a degree in Business and Marketing enabled me to achieve the position I have now, the UK Country Marketer for an international business, and I have travelled, learned and never felt happier.

I had always planned to go to university in what is considered the ‘normal’ order of life milestones, but instead I became a mother at a very young. I was 19, young and unprepared, but I embraced it and now, at almost 30, I have the most wonderful 10-year-old, and he became my driver of ambition as I am a single parent.

I have learnt since joining Arden that the ‘normal’ way of doing things is not normal at all; fighting for your achievements and developments is normal and this is not something that has an age limit!

Now you’re maybe wondering, how on earth does she manage a career, studies and a child, especially during today’s unprecedented? It is very fair to say that a Distance Learning course with Arden is flexible, and I have no shame in admitting due to work pressures including my promotion, I have needed to defer modules.

This new situation we are in is much more challenging with schools being closed and working from home. I have needed to change my routine and that hasn’t been easy. The brilliant advantage of Distance Learning is that you have everything you need at home and it can distract you from Coronavirus news stories to focus on something positive. I know I have time now to push harder than ever but be thankful every day for my child’s health.
