The Online Learning Experience

What makes the online learning experience at Arden special?

Flexibility

What makes home learning so special? And how do you know if it's the right path for you? The online learning experience takes you away from the full commitment of face-to-face lectures and classroom time. This makes it much easier to achieve the qualification you need, at a pace that works for you.

At Arden University, your learning comes to you with 24/7, support, multi-media learning materials and a leading edge virtual classroom study portal called ilearn

Having an online learning platform at your fingertips means that you can work your studies around any other commitments in your life - whether it's a job, your family, volunteer work or a hobby you don't want to compromise on. Our home learning opportunities mean that many of our students are able to work alongside their studies. If you're in a similar situation or you have family and caring responsibilities, an online learning course will be more practical for you. From watching tutorials on the train, writing assignments at the kitchen table or reading books in the online library whilst enjoying your beach holiday, you can complete your studies without putting your life on hold.

Need a little more structure? If the online learning experience sounds great, but you feel you'd still benefit from valuable classroom time, we have Study Centres in London, Birmingham and Manchester that offer full-time Degrees using our innovative Blended Learning schedule. With this, you get all the same online materials and support, with the addition of two days of face-to-face seminars per week during term time. Find out more about our Study Centres here.

How flexible is online learning?

As well as being able to study anytime, anywhere, you can also adapt the number of modules you study during each study period. As you progress through your course at Arden University the choice is in your hands, so you can adapt the quantity of modules you study based on how busy you are. For all our modules of study, you can take an assessment period off as long as you complete the minimum modules per year which are as follows:

Undergraduate self-funding

Each level of undergraduate study carries 120 credits. You can choose to study 40 credits (two modules) per three-month assessment period up to a maximum of 120 credits per year. If one of the active modules is a dissertation or final project, you can choose to study a maximum of 60 credits in the relevant quarter. Student Loans Company requires a full year for each level, meaning you could have a completely clear assessment period (three months) per year while still being able to complete your degree in three years.

On the reverse, if you want to reduce the intensity of study, you only need to study 40 credits (two modules), over three or six months, per year.

Postgraduate self-funding

You can choose to study 40 credits (two modules) per three-month assessment period, plus your research project or dissertation (60 credits) for three months minimum, meaning you could complete a part time master’s degree in as little as a year.

On the reverse, if you want to reduce the intensity of study, you only need to study 40 credits (two modules), over three or six months, per year. This means you can spread your postgraduate studies to 39 months if needed.
