Arden University is proud to reveal the formation of its new English Language Hub (ELH).
This brand-new department will provide English language provision for all Arden students who count English as a non-native language.
The ELH’s operations will include entrance admission testing, preparatory courses, and in-sessional courses with the aim of improving students’ language proficiency, confidence, and academic literacy. In turn, this should foster a positive student experience, improve pass rates, and reduce attrition.
The department will be headed up by Louise Skeet, who has recently joined Arden having worked in Higher Education for 10 years at British universities as a Senior Lecturer and in her former role as Head of Language, out in Singapore.
‘I’m delighted to have joined Arden University to head up the new English Language Hub. An important aspect of being a truly international institution is to embrace inclusivity as much as possible; having a dedicated department to support second language speakers of English is one way to honour that commitment.
Having had the privilege of teaching 37 different nationalities so far, I’m truly passionate about building a department that can help more learners on their journey. My team will be providing one-to-one support and bespoke short courses to help improve proficiency and boost the confidence of non-native English students.
Moreover being based in the international division, working alongside International Partnerships and the International Office, the English Language Hub will have a truly global reach,” said Louise.
Students interested in the ELH should stay tuned for more information.
