Continuing to support initiatives promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across businesses, Arden University is to sponsor the “Excellence in Diversity, and Inclusion” category at this year’s MBCC Awards.
Taking place on the 2nd December in Birmingham, The MBCC Awards (Multicultural Business & Community Champion Awards) recognises and celebrates the nation’s inspirational business & community unsung heroes.
‘I strongly believe that the MBCC Awards closely align with the core values of Arden University,’ said Professor Dilshad Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Business and interim Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Arden University.
‘Given our significant numbers of widening participation students from disadvantaged backgrounds it is critical that Arden provides these students with a sense of belonging and a solid platform that they can develop and build on. The MBCC awards are incredibly inspiring, and I want to demonstrate to all of our students that anything and everything is possible with ambition, drive and commitment.'
Founded by Zoe Bennett, The MBCC Awards was birthed as more than just an awards ceremony, with Zoe bringing people together to recognise, value, and say thank you to the unsung heroes. It also allowed recipients of the awards to obtain more visibility for the exceptional work they do whether that be in business and/or the community worlds.
The Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion category recognises an organisation which has made a significant impact in the EDI space. The winner will have continued to break down barriers and widen participation and access for all as well as welcoming diversity and continuously advocate for equality and inclusion in all they do.
Serving as CEO for the awards is Birmingham-based entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Dr Tru Powell, who was awarded an honorary doctorate from Arden University at our summer graduation last year.
‘This is super exciting,’ said Tru. ‘I have such a great relationship with Arden University and their values aligns so much with the Multicultural Business & Community Champion Awards (MBCC) so this partnership just makes sense.’
