Harriet Jones

Harriet is the head of the Department of Law at Arden University and former associate head with a focus on access to justice, mediation, and practical legal training. She is an RICS accredited mediator who is hoping to start a PhD on international mediation and access to justice. Harriet graduated from the University of Hull with a LLB Law (Hons) degree and later went on to achieve a Bar Professional Training Course. Harriet was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2012 and continues to be very actively involved with the legal profession.

Dr. Emma Winlow

Dr. Emma Winlow obtained her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Criminology and Crime & Justice from the University of Chester and completed her PhD at the University of Gloucestershire. A public criminologist, Emma has extensive leadership and management experience in higher education and is passionate about accessibility, inclusion, and employability in teaching and learning. She established the School of Criminal Justice with these practices in mind.

Dr Aaron Taylor

Dr Aaron Taylor has been involved in teaching and training for over 20 years, both in the UK and internationally. During this time, he has built up expertise in teaching and learning specifically across postgraduate HRM programmes. Before becoming Head of Department of HRM at Arden University, Aaron was a Principal Lecturer at the University of Sunderland and a Principal Lecturer in HRM at Coventry University London. Aaron is an External Examiner for HRM programmes at the University of Suffolk and the University of Sussex.

Dr. Stephanie West

Dr. Stephanie West joined Arden University in November 2020 and is the Head of the School of School of Leadership & Service Industry Management. In addition to her wealth of healthcare industry experience, Stephanie has held a number of Senior Academic and Leadership positions in Health, Social Care and Applied Science faculties at a variety of universities across the UK.

Dr. Syed Ali Tarek PhD, MSc Oxf, SFHEA

Dr. Syed Ali Tarek is the Head of Department for MBA and Executive Education programmes. With over 16 years of experience, he has excelled in senior leadership roles and managed large academic teams. He led Arden’s MBA and EMBA to global recognition as top tier programmes in CEO Magazine's 2024 edition. Dr. Tarek has contributed to quality assurance in UK higher education and advised international initiatives, including collaborations with the UN.

Dr. Serkan Ceylan

Dr. Serkan Ceylan joined Arden University in 2021 and is the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Innovation. Alongside his extensive industry experience, Serkan has a impressive research grant history, securing over £1,000,000 to date. He also has visiting academic positions across Europe and has undertaken external examiner duties for universities in the UK. Serkan will be responsible for restructuring our portfolio of project management courses, and raising Arden University’s profile within the industry through the development of close industry ties and future partnerships.

Dr Lee Braiden

Lee is a Mathematician and Data Scientist and has worked in both higher education and degree apprenticeships environments. Lee has planned, designed and developed programmes across all academic levels including Data Science and Data Mining, ensuring alignment to progressive industry requirements and skills. Lee completed his PhD in Magnetohydrodynamics at Coventry University, researching liquid metal blanket systems for nuclear fusion reactors. Lee has published multiple research papers in prestigious international journals and his thesis is housed within the British Library.

Paul Shemmell

Paul joined Arden University in 2024 as a Lecturer, after previous stints at Global Banking School (GBS), Birmingham City University (BCU) and the University of Wolverhampton. He has worked in a variety of roles in the public and private sector over the last 20 years, including software developer, business analyst and specialist technician for the School of Computing and IT in Wolverhampton. He has supervised numerous students through their projects, including several award-winning dissertations during his time at BCU.
