Advance your health and social care career by completing your postgraduate studies and earning a master’s qualification. The MSc Health and Care Management (Top-Up) programme is designed to help you achieve this by providing a pathway to a full master’s degree through completing a single research module. This qualification can unlock opportunities for career progression, promotions to senior positions, and access to a broader range of roles across the health and social care industry.
By applying your previous studies to address significant issues in the sector, this programme equips you with the advanced skills needed for higher-level roles, including problem analysis, project proposals, implementation plans, risk management, and leadership.
In addition to enhancing your career, this top-up programme offers a valuable opportunity for those interested in academia. During the course, you will consolidate your learning by integrating and applying knowledge from previous postgraduate studies into a practical research project. This process enhances your research skills, including research methodology, and paves the way for further academic pursuits such as publishing research or pursuing a PhD.
The core component of this top-up course is the research project. This module enables you to apply your academic knowledge to real-world scenarios, focusing on enhancing, improving, or transforming health and social care services. The project encourages you to explore your personal and professional skills, contributing to your overall confidence and competence.

Research Project (60 credits)
This course is assessed based on an independent project focusing on a current issue in public health. If you're already working in health and care, you’ll have the opportunity to address a real-world situation from your workplace. You will work on this issue in a simulated setting with guidance from our academic team.
Each student will be assigned a supervisor to guide them from the conception of the project idea to the submission of the final report. This support ensures you can confidently navigate the research process and produce high-quality, industry-relevant work.
At Arden University we consider applications on a case by case basis. If you have significant work experience, have qualifications you have gained elsewhere, or a degree or qualification that isn't a clear pathway to this degree - we are more than happy to discuss your application.
