As part of our recent University-wide focus on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, Arden University’s Faculty of Social Sciences hosted a roundtable discussion on the importance of Inclusive Language.
The panel, featuring Lucy Anacleto (Senior Lecturer in school of Psychology and EDI lead for the school of Psychology), Emma Owen (Psychology lecturer), and psychology student Fawn Hunkins-Beckford, explored a range of aspects relating to the topic, with the intention of starting a dialogue and discussion.
The session, which is available to watch in full at the link below, examined the prevalence of neurodiversity at Arden University, explored a number of potential reasons people may have for not disclosing a condition, as well as the importance of inclusive language, best practice, and further recommendations for inclusivity. There is also a Q&A at the end
