Course Overview

Designed for anyone who wants to fast-track their career in the sector, our MSc Project Management course is enables you to take on greater challenges in project management and increase your competitive edge in the eyes of employers. 

On the course, you’ll develop strategic project management skills that are highly sought after in sectors across all areas of international business – from project analytics and data handling to managing teams and understanding Big Data. The syllabus has been designed to reflect upon and consider contemporary project management practice and the challenges facing the global business environment right now, as well as providing the strategic leadership and management skills that every business needs. To support your career development, this course is accredited by the Chartered Association of Project Management (APM), and is the only project management master’s degree in the UK offering a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership*.

With this in mind, our master’s in project management will bring you up-to-speed with the latest project management practices, trends, and developments. How do we assess you?

The assessment strategy centres on a strong alignment with real world project management issues and embraces a range of group and individual based assessment types including: 

  • Reflective analysis

  • Proposals for agile implementation
  • Digital business transformation project (as above)

Students are expected to apply knowledge and theory explored in the modules and produce assessments that simultaneously focus on real business situations and demonstrate the high levels of critical and diagnostic thinking required to meet the standards of a Level 7 business qualification.  

The programme culminates in the submission of the independent study assessment (Business Transformation Project) that builds upon content examined in the other modules and requires students to develop a digital transformation project plan.
 

Study options

This course is available to study full time through our blended learning study mode at our campus in Berlin, Germany and London Tower Hill.

The course is also available to students via online learning. This gives you the convenience of being able to study from anywhere in the UK or worldwide, providing you with the same high standards of teaching but with lower tuition fees.

Full-time blended learning

How does it work?

When you choose our blended learning study mode, you’ll have eight hours of timetabled classes spread over two days at the Arden campus of your choice. This is combined with around 25 hours of independent study, which takes place through ilearn, our university campus in the cloud.

Blended learning is the best option for students who prefer the structure of regular face to face classes with their tutor and fellow classmates, and is particularly suited to students who live within commuting or driving distance of one of our UK campuses.

If you're a student from England who is enrolling on a blended learning course with Arden (based in one of our UK campuses) then you can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan to help pay for your living expenses. If you're a student from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland you can find information about obtaining a student loan to cover your costs from your student finance body.

This course is also available to study full-time at our campus in Berlin, Germany.

Part-time online learning

How does it work?

Studying your degree online with Arden means you can earn your anywhere in the world without the requirement to attend classes in a physical location. Our online students study their degree through iLearn, Arden’s university campus in the cloud.

Online learning students resident in the UK can apply for a Maintenance Loan if they cannot attend their course in person because of a disability. Student Route – Full-time in attendance

Available for overseas students who want to study in the UK, full-time in attendance study with Arden gives you face-to-face teaching with timetabled classes for your chosen subject at our campus at Tower Hill, London. You’ll also have full access to ilearn and our extensive online library throughout your studies.

You will study your course through a blend of face to-face seminars with your course lecturers at your campus, combined with independent online learning activities which you can fulfil in your own time.

  • Each module of your course is completed over a 9-week period.
  • Each week will require a minimum of 33.5 hours of study time, which comprises:
  • Eight hours of timetabled face-to-face teaching each week based at our campus
  • A minimum 25.5 hours independent online learning.

Ilearn

Our online students study their degree through iLearn, Arden’s university campus in the cloud.  iLearn provides everything you need to study at University. It offers an integrated virtual learning experience, including your virtual classroom, lecture theatre, and access to our Library Portal.

Library portal

The library portal includes an extensive digital library including thousands of journal titles, eBooks, and academic and industry databases which you can use to research your assignments and projects. All of these materials are provided to you free of charge, and contain all the research information you’ll need to complete your degree with us.

Entry requirements

At Arden University we consider applications on a case by case basis. If you have significant work experience, have qualifications you have gained elsewhere, or a degree or qualification that isn't a clear pathway to this degree - we are more than happy to discuss your application.

What you need to study with us

Our aim is to make learning as accessible as possible by ensuring that you can study your degree in a flexible and convenient way. That's why we keep our requirements simple. All you need is a laptop or desktop PC (we recommend one running the latest version of Windows), and a good internet connection. Through ilearn, our online university campus in the cloud, you'll be able to access your course calendar, support services, learning materials, and our online library containing thousands of ebooks, as well as tools for creating assignments, keeping notes, and collaborating with other students on your course.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this MSc project management course at Arden University, you must normally have:

  • A UK Honours Degree at a minimum of second class (2:2) or equivalent. Some of our students decide to join us straight after they complete their undergraduate studies.
  • Or, for those joining us after time in the workplace, we recommend that they have five years of experience as a manager of people or projects.

English Proficiency

  • IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element); or TOEFL iBT 90; or equivalent
  • Alternatively, evidence you have previously studied in English; a letter to show that the Medium of Instruction was in English can be accepted
  • International students studying in the UK require IELTS for UKVI 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element) or equivalent. Find out more here

Course fees and funding

Funding and Scholarships

For a limited time, we’re offering UK online learning students the opportunity to enrol on our MSc Project Management course for just £6,500, a tuition fee reduction of £3,000. This means you can use the remaining balance from your Postagraduate Student Loan (up to £12,471 for students in England) to help with living costs, making it easier for you to invest in your future.

International students studying on campus are eligible for a 50% tuition fee reduction. Speak to your advisor for more information.
