Our online Level 4 CertHE Health and Care Management course has been developed in consultation with senior leaders from the NHS, Skills for Care, and Skills for Health to ensure you gain the professional expertise needed to get your career started in the sector.
Taking a modern and digital-first approach, our course content is regularly updated to meet the needs of the sector. That means you’ll gain the leadership skills required to face today’s most pressing health and care challenges. During your studies, you’ll have access to valuable learning and networking resources from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute for Health and Social Care Management (IHSCM).
This CertHE is the ideal choice if you’re currently unsure about committing to a full degree course, for newcomers wanting to enter the field, and for current professionals looking to gain a qualification to progress their careers. After you graduate, you’ll also have the chance to progress onto our DipHE and gain your diploma or complete a full undergraduate degree if you wish to do so.
Arden is one of the only universities in the UK offering CertHE leadership courses contextualised for health and care. By undertaking this course, you’ll have better opportunities to apply for workplace funding than on a standard undergraduate degree.
I chose online learning because I do not currently have the capacity to attend classes as my days are full with running my household, my elderly parents’ household and tending to the needs of my 3-year-old. Online studying has been extremely helpful because it provides the flexibility I need in order to study at random times during the day or night.
The course has been developed in line with the ever-growing needs of the health and social care sector, highlighting the emerging digital and leadership competencies required of today’s professionals and managers. By covering the most relevant topics in the field, your modules ensure you’ll graduate with the skills you need to succeed.
You will receive the same excellent support provided to all Arden students including success coaches, academic skills tutors and workshops, our careers team, and much more. You will also receive an additional four hours of online academic knowledge and study skills sessions as part of your course.
Unlike on more traditional programmes, you won't be sitting any exams on the CertHE Health and Care Management. Your assessments will instead link your course material to health, care, and management practice, providing you with key transferable workplace skills for your future role. This will include things like essays, presentations, academic posters, reports, case studies, and podcasts.
I chose to study with Arden University because the staff members were really supportive and nice. The course also fitted around my job. With Arden, I’ve finally learned to cope and understand my learning pattern, and my dyslexia. I’m on a Blended Learning degree, which involves a couple of days a week in the classroom with other students and tutors at Arden’s University centre in Ealing, West London plus fully supported online study.

Our online students study their degree through ilearn, Arden’s university campus in the cloud. ilearn provides everything you need to study at university. It offers an integrated virtual learning experience, including your virtual classroom, lecture theatre, and access to our Library Portal. The portal includes an extensive digital library including thousands of journal titles, eBooks, and academic and industry databases which you can use to research your assignments and projects. All of these materials are provided to you free of charge and contain all the research information you’ll need to complete your degree with us.
ilearn is also integrated with Zoom, making it easier to chat with your course tutor during your scheduled seminar sessions. You can even integrate our study materials into your Kindle, making it possible to study wherever you have your Kindle handy.
Studying online doesn’t mean studying alone. As well as receiving regular feedback and guidance from your course tutor, you’ll be studying with like-minded students who you can meet with through our Unitu community, and you’ll have access to community message boards to discuss your course and the topics being raised within it. We’ve even set up community boards embedded into each of the course modules so you can have discussions with your tutor and classmates on the topics you’re currently learning.
Online learning students resident in the UK can apply for a Maintenance Loan if they cannot attend their course in person because of a disability. At Arden University we consider applications on a case by case basis. If you have significant work experience, have qualifications you have gained elsewhere, or a degree or qualification that isn't a clear pathway to this degree - we are more than happy to discuss your application.

All you need is a laptop or desktop PC (we recommend one running the latest version of Windows), and a good internet connection. As the CMI possesses a Royal Charter, they are the only organisation in the UK that can award Chartered Manager status to its members – the gold standard in management. They are also active in business policymaking across the globe, and ensure that their more than 140,000 members are represented in policy decision-making.

This course is endorsed by the Institute of Health & Social Care Management, whose aim is to create a supportive professional body that is relevant in its activities and modern in its approach and that holds sector leaders in the NHS, social care, third sector and private healthcare amongst its members. The IHSCM works with Arden University to contribute to curriculum development and delivery.
