Oscar Bustillo

I have enjoyed doing my master’s here because it’s not like a traditional university where you sit in a classroom and a lecturer talks and you write down everything. I like that when we come here there’s actually a discussion and we do a lot of analysis.

How do we assess you?

Authentic assessments, no exams

Unlike on more traditional degree courses, you won’t be sitting any exams on this course. Instead, our assessments have been designed to help you apply your learning to real-world scenarios. This means you’ll have the opportunity to align your studies to how you want to help transform project management functions in your future career.

Industry led assessment

You’ll have the opportunity to apply the theories explored in your modules to real-world business situations, such as the implementation of a live case study or project plan, or building project strategies that demonstrate a high-level of practical, critical, and diagnostic thinking skills.

Final Project

The course concludes with an independent study assessment which forms your Final Project module. Here you’ll have the opportunity to work on a live topic provided by one of our industry network partners – presenting your findings and solutions to a real-world organisation. This will give you highly advantageous networking opportunities alongside assessment, as you’ll be able to demonstrate your skills and knowledge to potential employers even before you graduate.

PMQ Qualification and Chartered Project Professional (CHPP) status

Your degree aligns with the internationally recognised PMQ Qualification, so you'll learn everything needed for this certification and be well-prepared to pursue it independently.

Additionally, the School of Project Management has achieved APM Recognised Assessments for the Chartered Project Professional (CHPP) status. This means that after passing the CHPP assessments, you'll be eligible to apply for CHPP status. This distinction makes your degree from Arden University unique, as no other university worldwide currently offers this prestigious CHPP alignment within an undergraduate programme.

Other assessment methods

Throughout the course you’ll have the opportunity to apply your learning through additional assessments including:

  • Reflective analysis
  • Portfolio development
  • Work products
  • Narrated presentations
  • Risk assessments

Cynthia Blow

I chose online learning because I do not currently have the capacity to attend classes as my days are full with running my household, my elderly parents’ household and tending to the needs of my 3-year-old. Online studying has been extremely helpful because it provides the flexibility I need in order to study at random times during the day or night.

I chose to study with Arden University because the staff members were really supportive and nice. The course also fitted around my job. With Arden, I’ve finally learned to cope and understand my learning pattern, and my dyslexia. I’m on a Blended Learning degree, which involves a couple of days a week in the classroom with other students and tutors at Arden’s University centre in Ealing, West London plus fully supported online study.

Pathways that align with your career ambitions

We offer two pathways starting from Level 5, allowing you to tailor your degree to your career goals – giving you the choice to build your skills on the technical side or develop the strategic skills needed to help companies grow:

Technical Pathway:

Build on your programming, database, and web development skills on this path. If your ambition is to excel in software development, database design, or web development, the technical pathway is the ideal choice for you.

Information Systems Pathway:

This pathway focuses on digital transformation, ethical considerations, and strategic approaches to system security. If you aim to pursue leadership roles in IT management or seek strategic positions, the information systems pathway equips you with the necessary insights into contemporary workplace challenges.

Free vendor courses

We align our resources with industry leaders like Oracle, Cisco, and Amazon, offering you the chance to pursue certifications and badges that enhance your employability. You will have access to a variety of free courses offered by these vendors. While we don’t cover certification costs, our programme prepares you for these exams, allowing you to pay for them when you are ready.

How do we assess you?

Real-world alignment: Our assessments mirror professional scenarios

Only one exam (Level 4, Introduction to Computer Systems and Security), through a time-controlled assessment. The rest of your modules involve hands-on activities directly relevant to computing roles.

You'll engage in creating databases, coding websites and web applications, writing programs, crafting project documents, analysing case studies and scenarios, and using spreadsheets for data visualisation and analysis, including working with large datasets. All of this will allow you to start building a professional portfolio of work to show to future employers.
