Course Overview

Arden University’s CertHE Law will introduce you to the fundamentals of law, serving as an entryway to an exciting choice of career possibilities in areas such as law, journalism, politics, and more.

Whether you’re looking to work in the legal sector, or still haven’t made a concrete decision about your future, this course will provide you with a valuable suite of skills that are applicable across a range of modern career paths. The CertHE is a recognised qualification in its own right and provides an entry route to degree-level study. This is a great option if you feel ready to study a degree course but don’t have the necessary qualifications usually required, such as GCSEs or A levels.

Just some of the skills you’ll learn include critical thinking, effective communication, presentation, and persuasion, effectively preparing you for future study or work in both the legal sector and beyond.

Study options

Imran Ali Khalifa

I wanted to study with Arden because it was the only option I found that truly suited my needs and what I was looking for in a university. The affordable cost of the course, and the fact that I could transfer my credits from previous studies really made Arden stand out.

Full time blended learning

How does it work?

When you choose our full-time blended learning study mode, you’ll have eight hours of timetabled classes spread over two days at the Arden study centre of your choice. In addition to our usual eight hours of face-to-face teaching per week, as a CertHE student, you’ll also have an extra four hours of online support for academic knowledge and study skills development as well as one and a half additional hours of English Language for those who require it. This is combined with around 20 hours of independent study, which takes place through ilearn, our university campus in the cloud. ilearn contains all the resources you need to study successfully. You’ll also have access to our online library, removing the need to buy expensive course books in order to study successfully, as well as to the excellent student support services which are available to all Arden students.

Blended learning is the best option for students who prefer the structure of regular face-to-face classes with their tutor and fellow classmates, and is particularly suited to students who live within commuting or driving distance of one of our UK study centres.

If you're a student from England who is enrolling on a full-time blended learning course with Arden (based in one of our UK study centres), you can apply for a Maintenance Loan for living costs to help pay for your living expenses. You can find more information on our fees and funding page. If you're a student from Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland you can find information on Maintenance Loan from your student finance body.

You’ll just need to complete our one-week Introduction to Higher Education which mirrors the timetabled hours of your programme. Once you’ve passed this, you’ll be able to start on your CertHE.

English proficiency

  • If English is not your first language we'll provide one and a half additional hours of subject-specific academic English support each week.
  • Alternatively evidence that you have previously studied in English at the appropriate level can be accepted.
  • Alternatively, evidence you have previously studied in English, such as a letter to show that the Medium of Instruction was in English, is also accepted

We’ll give you all the support you need to succeed. Then, when you graduate from the CertHE course, you'll be able to progress on to the rest of the degree course if you decide it’s right for you.
