Arden University’s CertHE Psychology will introduce you to modern psychology theory and practice, and essential skills for pursuing a career within the field. This CertHE is a recognised qualification in its own right, and also provides an entry route to degree-level study. This is a great option if you feel ready to study a degree course but don’t have the necessary qualifications usually required, such as GCSEs or A levels.
By immersing you in psychology and a rich network of students and internationally recognised academics, our CertHE Psychology course will provide you with a strong foundation for future work or study in one of today’s most in-demand sectors.
On the course, you’ll study a variety of stimulating modules that have been designed to provide you provide you with knowledge, skills and abilities that are beneficial in a wide range of careers and an entryway into this fascinating field.
All of our psychology courses come with their own specialised support system, giving you additional access to one-to-one support from your lecturers and academic skills tutors, opportunities to chat with your fellow peers and staff, and more.
Arden is for winners. Nobody will beg you to sit down and start working on your career, if you don’t do it yourself! At Arden, if you have an honest interest for what you learn and you want to reach out for more, you will be welcomed, helped, and advised. But to do that, you must be determined.
This is a 1-year course available through full-time blended learning, which gives you additional study support and is ideal if you’re unsure about committing to a full 3-year degree course. Once you’ve completed your CertHe, you’ll be able to continue onto Level 5 (year two) of the degree course if you wish to do so. To find out more about the Cert HE, click here.
You will receive the same excellent support provided to all Arden students including success coaches, academic skills tutors and workshops, our careers team, and much more. You will also receive an additional four hours of online academic knowledge and study skills sessions as part of your course.
f English is not your first language, we’ll also give you one and a half hours of weekly academic English support
Unlike on more traditional degree courses, you won’t need to sit through exams on the CertHE Psychology. Instead, your assessments have been designed to help you apply your learning to real-world scenarios, Such as as narrated powerpoint presentations and analysing case studies from a psychological perspective. That means you’ll be better prepared to apply the skills you’ve gained on the course to your professional role once you graduate.
At Arden University we consider applications on a case by case basis. If you have significant work experience, have qualifications you have gained elsewhere, or a degree or qualification that isn't a clear pathway to this degree - we are more than happy to discuss your application.
We welcome anyone onto our CertHE course who can show us their determination to complete the qualification. You’ll just need to complete our one-week Introduction to Studying in Higher Education which mirrors the timetabled hours of your programme. Once you’ve passed this, you’ll be able to start on your CertHE.
If you do not have a GCSE or equivalent in mathematics you are strongly encouraged to complete an assessment-free module before the start of your course to substitute this.
We’ll give you all the support you need to succeed. Then, when you graduate from the CertHE course, you'll be able to progress on to the rest of the degree course if you decide it’s right for you.

Whilst you can read your study materials on your smart phone or tablet, to make the most of your learning experience, you will need access to a laptop or computer (we recommend one running the latest version of Windows), and a good stable internet connection.

After successfully completing your CertHE Psychology, you’ll have acquired a range of skills that will be appealing to employers across almost all industries. However, we expect that you’ll want to continue studying and complete the BSc (Hons) Psychology or BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling to continue your learning and development.
